SUN SALUTATION

Standing up tall
breathing deeply
I reach for the sky
with my arms stretching high

Then bending forward
I reach for my feet
with my nose
trying to touch my thighs

Then stepping back
with one foot
then the other
I’m straight as a pirate ship plank

I lower myself
with strong arms
and my tummy falls down
like the ship, it just sank

Then into down dog
I stretch out my arms
and my legs
like a pup waking up

Stepping with one foot
and then with the other
I forward fold
as I stand up

Then I reach high to the sun
bring my hands to my heart
and think “Wasn’t that fun?”

Waking and warming my body
with all of the moves
in sun salutation

Let’s do it again (repeat sequence)

FIVE SENSES

I can see with my eyes
I can smell with my nose
I can touch with my fingers and my toes
I can taste with my tongue
I can hear with my ears
Five senses help me learn about the world

SEASONS CHANGE

In the cool autumn-time brown leaves fall down

In the snowy wintertime the branches are bare

In the sunny springtime the buds open wide

In the hot summertime green leaves reach high

MOTHER NATURE’S LULLABY

Early this morning mother nature opened her eyes
and sunrise woke the breaking dawn
Higher and higher rays of sunlight reached to the sky
and wrapped the clouds with loving arms

Mother, she fills the Earth with beauty
growing life with gentle hands
Trees and plants blossoming all across the land

Mother she has a sacred duty
shaping the world with loving hands
There she stands with all of creation in her plans

Late in the evening Mother Nature
beckons the sun to sleep and night to open wide
Lifting the moon, sprinkling the stars across the sky
to twinkle brightly side by side

Mother, she loves the little children
sleeping so soundly in their beds
Resting heads, soft on their pillows
“Dream,” she says

Dreaming of kisses, hugs, and whispers
children are smiling in their sleep
Breathing deep, all of their secrets she will keep

Into the night the children sleep, sleep, sleep
